There is some controversy around whether or not Candida causes Candida Balanitus more in uncircumcised men (those who still have a foreskin) than in those who are circumcised. One investigational study examined normal men who were either circumcised or not and checked for Male Yeast Infections and prevalence of Candida species. They found the same rates of Candida colonizing the penis (about 15%) in all men and that circumcision status made no difference. The study did note, however, that uncircumcised men had far more symptoms from Candida than did men who were colonized with Candida species but were circumcised.
Psychologically, Candida balanitis is also linked closely to men’s self image, as an important male body part is concerned, which can cause mental trauma as well. People commonly assume that candidiasis in males is a minor problem. However, when yeast infection in males is neglected, further complications such as phimosis can arise, where the foreskin and the swollen and inflamed glans start to stick together. Diagnosis from an experienced and professional clinician is required in order to differentiate between social diseases like herpes and Candida balanitis. To avoid this kind of severe complications, symptoms of yeast infection in males must be dealt with in the right way whenever they come to light.
Yeast infections have symptoms quite like to that of a lot of sexually transmitted infections such as Chlamydia and gonorrhea.
